The resistance of the people of Singfarna in West Java against the Japanese
The struggle of the people of Singfarna in western Java against the Japanesein the hope of colonization was by far the most difficult period for the Indonesian nation, although the struggle never stopped. This struggle is undoubtedly one of the great battles in Indonesia to make efforts to repel the invaders.
During the colonial period, of course, there were various things done by thecolonists that made the Indonesian people miserable and tortured. Therefore, various efforts have been made to be able to buy well-being, as well as communal independence, especially in the region of West Java. This is certainly also done with the support of various parties in it.
There was an important figure that appeared later in the case of the resistance of thepeople of Singfarna in West Java against the Japanese. With his leadership, more and more people joined forces to spend and eradicate the various unpleasant attitudes of the colonists, in this case it was Japan at that time.
Reject movements that provoke battles
When Japan began to rule the territory of Indonesia, it was not only to consolidate its power, but its various cultures were brought to influence the people. Surely you have also heard or read about it. One of the cultures that Japan also seeks to instill is to pay tribute to its flag.
Not only that, but Japan also tried to force the Indonesian people to sing their national anthem. Includes a salute in front of the sun in honor of the Japanese emperor or known as seikerei. Basically in the religion in which the Japanese people believed, bowing down in front of the sun is a kind of reverence for the sun god.
It was opposed and rejected by the Indonesian people and became one of the causes of the resistance of thepeople of Singaparna of West Java against the Japanese at that time. There is no doubt that the existence of this sikri is also opposed by many existing scholars, because it is also similar to the prayer movement. So it further muddled the warm atmosphere at that time and caused bigger problems between Japan and Indonesia.
There were many key clerical officials who opposed this movement and called on their soldiers to fight theopposing army. Of course, this was done to defend independence and did not want to do what the Japanese people believed. However, since it is very emphasized, the invading armywill regard anyone who does not want to do so as a dissident and deserves to be punished.
Singfarna’s People’s Opposition to Japanese Policy
One of the clerics who rejected the Saykari movement at the time was MK Zinel Mustafa. He and all the disciples of Pcentran Sukamaneh clearly refused to do so, ignitingthe opposition of the people of Cineparana in West Java against the Japanese. It also includes saying that for Muslims, doing sikray is a deterrent act and should be avoided.
Of course, KH Zainel Mustafa did not remain silent and watched Japan torture anyone who rejected the movement. He began to devise a strategy to increase his power so that he could properly rebel against the Japanese forces. Forces of the students in Pcentern were deployed so that they could fight the enemy.
Initially, before there wasresistancebetween the inhabitants of Sinafrana, West Java and the Japanese, the colonialists sent their people to hold talks with KH Zainal Mustafa so that he could understand. But it turned out that in the end the Japanese messenger was actually killed and made the invaders angry so they decided to use harsher methods.
Until finally the resistance of theSingfarna people of West Java against the Japanese was no longer inevitable. Although indeed the number of soldiers is certainly inferior to many, so the opposing army can control the resistance. There were so many soldiers from a pianist who were arrested by the Japanese and executed for being dissidents and disobeying their orders.
The people of Singfarna who are an anti-colonial policy
The people in the Singfarna area themselves are actually people who tend to be religious. So the different policies of the colonists are indeed very anti, especially with the various atrocities committed. This is very inconsistent with the religious understanding adopted by the majority of the people of Singfarna, namely Islam.
One of the obstacles to the resistance of theCinefarna people in West Java against the Japanese was because of the large number of people who died as a result of forced labor at that time. Also, any Japanese behavior seems inhumane. They have the heart to do everything in their power to punish anyone who does not want to obey what has been ordered and is considered a rebel.
Moreover, there is more and more policy given by the Japanese side and there is no reason to reject it. The policy is considered contrary to religious teachings and is compulsive in nature. So it further makes people live miserable lives and do not have the freedom to do according to their religious teachings.
The battle between the people of Singfarna, West Java and the Japanese, took place in the village of Sukamana for about an hour. The forces led by H.Y. Zainel Mustafa carried swords and pointed to bamboo as his weapon. There is a combination besides the students, there are also soldiers from Kemptai, Garut and Tasikmalaya. They all came together to resist the arbitrariness of Japanese colonization even though they ended up having to lose.
Get to know the character of H.K. Zeinel Mustafa
KH Zinel Mustafa or who in childhood was known as Omri or Hodami was actually an ordinary person. He studied at Pcentran Gunung Pari and changed many places as a traveling student. This is done to acquire more in-depth religious knowledge from different types of teachers and scholars of course.
After studying at several Islamic boarding schools in West Java and because of his intelligence, Omri was appointed assistant to Kii Mutakian. Omri has noble ambitions to be able to establish and manage his pastern. Until finally this dream came true in the area of the village of Baguer, Singfarna. Of course, this is the story before the resistance of the people of Singfarna in West Java against the Japanese.
Omri then changed his name to KH Zinel Mustafa after he carried out the Hajj in 1937. He demanded that learning Arabic was the main thing to learn to make it easier to understand religious studies. However, in his pesantren, he also taught material on Indonesian history and the defense of the homeland.
The existence of this substance made KH Zainel Mustafa supervised by the intelligence of the Dutch settlers. He was also later imprisoned by the Dutch. Of course, this happened because of his criticism of the policies of the settlers who were considered contrary to religious and inhumane teachings at the time.
He continued to do everything in his power to protect his religion and his people. Oppose every policy, from the colonists to the Japanese coming to Indonesia. His love for the homeland is undeniable. There have been many services as a national hero carried out and have a great influence on the struggle of the Indonesian people.
The struggle of the inhabitants of Singfarna must indeed end in defeat. But in other areas there was also great opposition to supplementing the policies of the settlers who were not suitable for the welfare of the people. Starting with the resistance of the people of Singfarna in West Java against the Japanese , the struggle of the Indonesian people was unusual to defend their independence.
